Join our unforgettable journey through the enchanting landscapes and vibrant culture of Bali. In June 2023, my boyfriend and I embarked on a month-long adventure across Indonesia, exploring Bali, Lombok, and the Komodo Islands. Our journey began in Ubud, where we immersed ourselves in the beauty of the island and its rich cultural heritage.
Day 1
The first day we had a mega jet lag but when we woke up in our cottage viewing to the rice fields and private pool, this was quickly made up. My boyfriend and I were very curious about the delicious breakfasts in Bali, so we started the first day at Milk and Madu. Had a super delicious breakfast here and even came back later in our trip (must-go). Our first activity was a scooter ride to the hanging gardens (of course, scooter riding in itself is an activity). The hanging gardens is a beautiful hilltop spot to which you are taken by gondola. You have beautiful views of the jungle here and can swim and enjoy traditional Balinese food. Highly recommended to go (Picture from thumbnail). Unfortunately, we had a bit of cloud and rain this day. But then this was the only day in a month that we had “worse” weather.

Day 2
The second day we went to the teggalalang travel fields and, of course, to beach club Cretya. This place had been on mine and my boyfriend’s bucket list for a long time so this was super fun to finally see. A pool over the rice fields and again delicious food and of course some drinks to celebrate finally being on bali. At the end of the day, we drove to a waterfall, Kanto Lampo. My boyfriend and I not only enjoyed ourselves here by seeing the waterfall, we also laughed at all the people getting their picture taken by a local. The local called out all the poses to which everyone performed them neatly. After this day, the jet lag hacked at us again and we decided to order some good food at our cottage.

Day 3
On the third day, we wanted to go for a long scooter ride. We went to Sidemen. A beautiful place about an hour’s scooter ride from our stay. In Sidemen, we saw some really beautiful nature, even more beautiful than Ubud. So for next time, we would definitely stay a few nights in Sidemen. We first drove to the Gembleng waterfall. You really have to see this if you go to Bali. It is a super high waterfall that you can climb all the way up. You can also cool off in the outlet pools here. It was also very quiet here, which we didn’t expect for such a beautiful place. After leaving, we decided to have dinner at Wapa Di Ume in Sidemen. A fantastic resort with swimming pool and again delicious Balinese food here. Our first nasi goreng! When we got back to Ubud, we decided to go into the centre of Ubud for a bit to have dinner, however, we found the atmosphere in Ubud centre to be less exciting. Despite this, my boyfriend and I were so excited about the nature in Ubud that we came back here later to relax at Cretya and again sightseeing the rice fields. The fourth day we had breakfast at the cottage, ordering is really easy via Grab, really recommend downloading that. After breakfast, our journey continued to… Lovina. You can read more about this in my next post!
